Although the leaf of this tea was not particularly aromatic, this black tea immediately struck me as very high in quality when I sipped the cup. I'm noticing a trend that teas from Simpson and Vail often surprise me with the brewed cup, after the dry leaf fails to impress. With this tea, I was able to brew two very flavorful cups, western style.

The first cup was Darjeeling-like in character, and very smooth. Aroma was floral and vegetal, with a hint of herbs and spice. Flavor was sweet, and the tea tasted as if honey had been added. There were nuances of wintergreen and nutmeg in the aroma.

The second cup brought out nuances of aroma absence in the first: a strong citrus quality, almost like candied orange peel, and more of the spicy qualities, like a hint of clove. The tea became slightly more oolong-like this time around, which I find is common with high-quality teas from the Himalayan region.

This is my favorite tea from Simpson and Vail so far, and also, my favorite tea yet to come out of Nepal. I would recommend this highly, especially to people who like smoother Darjeelings with a vegetal character. Very good price for a tea of this quality.
