The dry leaf smells a bit like potpourri, and a bit like a regular Masala chai.
Upon brewing, this tea is quite peppery and almost prickly on the palate. The brewed cup is not as floral-smelling as the leaf. Aroma is complex and hard to describe: I definitely notice the clove, but the other aromas seem to blend together.
The flavor of this tea is very crisp. A pleasing, light bitterness stands out against a clear, clean background. There is little astringency. I suspect the base tea is quite high-quality because of the flavor (Shanti Tea says it's TGFOP) but the aroma of the base tea is really bowled over by the other ingredients.
Pleasing, and different, but not radically so. I recommend especially if you like chai with a lot of clove.
