This may be tied with TeaVivre for my favorite white peony--yet the two teas are like day and night. TeaVivre's is so light, and I found this to be rich, full-bodied, and dark. Pleasing and unusually strong for a white tea.
Broken leaf has a highly heterogeneous appearance, with small whole leaves, large broken pieces of leaf, and some pieces of downy tips. Leaf looks dark in color for white peony tea.
Upon brewing, produces a medium-dark cup with a very pleasing, creamy quality. Aroma suggests rice or oatmeal, and autumn leaves, with a hint of vanilla. Moderately astringent but in a way that I find makes this tea refreshing. A bit of a metallic quality in the finish however, making this tea seem more cooling than typical. The finish seems to have more greener character, with a few floral and vegetal notes coming out.
Strong. I recommend using little leaf. Flavor is rich, considerably sweet. A pleasant astringency in the finish.
Very pleasing to drink. Interesting in that it tastes dark upon sipping and seems to lighten up as I drink it. Most similar in character to Adagio's white peony, but I think more complex. Among my favorite of the darker versions of this tea.
Really good price for a tea of this quality, even without the organic and fair trade certification.
