I strongly disliked this one, which is perhaps to be expected, as I dislike Twinings regular chai, although I thought this one was much worse. The nut aroma seemed artificial, the base tea was weak and uninteresting, and I didn't like the choice or blend of spices.
The aroma seems very artificial, and somewhat unpleasant. There's a strong but fleeting fake almond aroma...it tastes less like almonds and more like marzipan or amaretto, which sounds good, but something about it just didn't sit well with me.
I was hoping for a rich, full-bodied tea with a nutty aroma, but there was nothing nutty about this. I want a rich, earthy nut aroma, like actual nuts rather than a sweet extract, which was what this tea suggested.
There's a cinnamon and almost nutmeg-like aroma too, which combines with the almond in a way that strike me as un-tea-like, almost more the sort of scent I'd expect in lotion or potpourri, not in food or drink.
The flavor is mild and sweet...and slightly sour...although there is a slightly tannic aftertaste, leaving a bitter and astringent sensation on the palate. Overall though the body is thin and the mouthfeel is too syrupy. The only thing I liked about this tea was that the spice left a mild and pleasant tingling sensation on my tounge.
I didn't finish it; I poured it out after drinking about half, and would not drink it again, nor would I recommend it.
