A mild Earl Grey that was sweet in flavor, perfumey in aroma, but overly astringent.
Tea bag smells more lemony / citrusy than most Earl grey, with a hint of spice.
Brews up a surprisingly aromatic cup for a tea bag, with a perfumey smell that suggests sweetness. Rich and full-bodied, somewhat astringent, but not overly bitter and definitely not harsh. Much smoother than Lipton and most other store brands. There is both a sweet and savory quality.
Compared to Twinings Earl Grey this one has a much bolder bergamot presence and I thought was a much more pleasant, aromatic tea; compared to Bigelow's Earl Grey, this one was more perfumey, slightly smoother, and less fresh / crisp tasting. I especially like the quality of the base tea.
In spite of the perfumey quality, which I don't like, I like the quality of the base tea more and I think I'd slightly prefer this to Bigelow, although I think I still prefer Numi's Aged Earl Grey among tea bags.
I'd especially recommend this one to people who like floral teas, like Jasmine, as it has a bit of a floral quality.
