Wow. This tea has a little too much going on with it and, for me, it just doesn't come together. Green tea and citrus don't strike me as complementary, and the licorice and stevia create excessive sweetness. (I'm not generally a licorice fan, but got this not realizing how much influence it would have.)

I'm doing what I do with all tea I don't actually like: giving away the rest of the box by leaving it in the communal kitchen at work. Maybe somebody else will like this, but yech.

I also feel you on the non-advertised licorice and stevia; it often bugs me when companies sneak these ingredients into a blend, making it taste really sweet even when I haven't added any sweetener to it.

It seems a bit weird to me to pair matcha with non-tea flavorings. Matcha sometimes works well when used as a flavoring for lower-grade or less expensive green teas, like when sencha or genmaicha is dusted with matcha, but the idea of using matcha as a base for a flavored tea puzzles me. I'd assume that either the matcha used would be low quality, or that if it were high quality stuff, it would be wasted by combining it with other ingredients.

I wonder if this product is more about the gimmick, capitalizing on the name "matcha", than about anything else.

Yep, sounds about right to me. Certainly feels more gimmick than substance. Matcha is far better on its own.
