The scent is rich but subtle. It gives the impression that the tea will have a deep flavor sealed within it. And it's true - the taste is very well rounded. There isn't any of the sharp wood-like quality you might expect, but instead it's like a balanced earthiness. Something about the tea instantly makes me feel relaxed.

I love hojicha across the board, and I also have tended to be impressed by Mountain Rose Herbs, both for buying herbs and their small selection of teas that I've tried. And this is still my all-time-favorite hojicha, and it's also among one of the most reasonably priced!

Most of the teas I'm trying now are thanks to yours and other reviews on this site. It's really helpful for someone starting out in the world of tea. I can't thank you enough!

The other hojicha I tried was Adagio's, and so I had a base to compare. The MRH one is great by itself, let alone compared to the other. Great prices at that site too. I just wish you could order less than 4 oz at a time, because that's a lot of tea, haha.
