I like smoked paprika (keep the sweet kind away from me.) I like smoked brisket. I like campfires. I like tea.
I thought I'd like Lapsang. But it was just too smoky. A co-worker and tea genius made some for me and I tried it but then yelped, turned tail, and felt a deep shame.
So I had a lot on the line when I tried this tea, served to me in a sachet at a local coffee shop. And it was delicious. I steeped it for about four minutes in slightly-below boiling water. Yes, it is smoky, but not overpowering. It is smooth and throat coating and seems to make the world look warmer. It holds up nicely in a second steep and lacks all bitterness.
If smoky isn't your thing, then don't bother. But if you're smoky-positive or smoky-curious, then you should try this tea.
