This is a late review that I somehow forgot to post; the company is now closed, and the tea wasn't my favorite, but why not share?
Another dud, the second one in a batch of teas that I've otherwise thought offered solid quality and excellent value.
The dry leaf looks unusually wiry for a white peony or bai mu dan tea. There's an "off" aroma to the smell, I can't quite place it, but it's a little like camphor, but more flat and subdued. Getting past this aroma, there are some pleasant notes of caramel and autumn leaves in the dry leaf.
The brewed cup has a similar aroma, and the first thing I notice is the "off" quality. I find it unpleasant. I did not finish the first cup. I did, however, find that it tasted much better once it had cooled.
I do like the mouthfeel of the cup. It is rather astringent, but in a way that I found very pleasant. It's the aroma that keeps me from enjoying this.
I liked most of the other teas from this company. I'm a bit sad that they didn't stay open longer, even though this wasn't my favorite tea of theirs, I thought their overall quality (and prices) were both very good.
