As rooibos teas go, it took me a few cups to adjust to the initially somewhat disjointed flavors at work here: fruit-berry and rooibos. The aroma, and to lesser extent taste, both were rooibos-dominant; that unmistakable broom-straw flavor of rooibos took charge hard for awhile. For folks who love rooibos a lot (I tolerate it OK, but not as a major fan or craver by any means), maybe that's a good thing.

However, an odd thing took place as I drank more bags from the box: the fruit component, initially prominent only in the aftertaste along the sides and back of the tongue, got more balanced against the rooibos. It never took over, mind you, but it became more of a pleasant and internally cohesive beverage over time. Perhaps, like strongly idiosyncratic or superficially grumpy friends who are better people underneath than initial impressions indicate, it just took some "getting used to." However, unlike those friends, I still won't actively seek this tea for any particular experience.
