Stated ingredients of this herbal/medicinal blend are: licorice root, cinnamon (18%), marshmallow root (17%), plantain leaves, myrtle leaves, sage, and cloves. That does sound potentially soothing, though I haven't tested it yet on a sore throat (and hope not to need to!).
Although those ingredients are different and mostly fewer in number than throat blends from the likes of Celestial Seasonings, Traditional Medicinals and Yogi, the aroma and flavor are remarkably similar to the far more complex Yogi and Traditional Medicinals offerings. Like those, "Throat Relief" is almost generically "herbal mishmash" in nature, without a distinctive or distinguishing flavor in the mix. I suppose, if I concentrate hard, I can pick out the licorice and cinnamon, but despite being the top two ingredients, they're not dominant. It just tastes like a lot of herbs thrown together. However, it takes to sweetening well, whether with honey or my usual mix of artificials, and isn't offputting in any way.
I tagged value as "Overpriced" for two reasons:
1. The retail cost I paid, over $5/box, would be high even for a 20-count box. Its per-box online price of £3.25, converted to USD, is more comparable to aforementioned domestic medicinal teas, and perhaps even a little lower. Yet...
2. The box, sized the same as boxes containing 20 bags and having more than enough empty space for 20+ bags, only has 15, suggesting "shrinkflation." You pay for 15 bags and 1/3 box of air.
