For a tea that seemed promising or at least interesting when spotted on a discount/clearance rack, I soon realized why it may have been cleared from inventory. First, the title of this tea is a little deceiving, because one of the two stated flavors doesn't even appear on the ingredients label, but instead, presumably, is wrapped inside the last ingredient in the list: green tea, hibiscus, licorice, rose hip, dried honey, orange peel, natural flavor.

I couldn't smell or taste the licorice or orange peel. In the in-cup aroma and initial part of the sip, the watermelon pretty consistently hits first, together with rose. That's a weird and disjointed combination. Then both briefly cross over with honey, which takes over, but in a strange form that seemed even more disjointed and almost chemical in character, despite the fact the honey is real. At first this made no sense, except that watermelon, rose and honey aren't flavors most people ever would think to combine. [Consider this: When was the last time you put honey and/or rose petals on a piece of watermelon before eating?]

I had trouble describing this blend until entering an old academic building where a crew was varnishing or waxing a wooden floor with some obviously citrusy scented stuff. Then I imagined swapping out citrus for melon+honey, and voila, this was that. In can hear the commercial now: "Start your day off right by drinking a nice hot cup of diluted, fruit-flavored floor wax!" I'm going to have a hard time finishing the 18-ct. box of individually wrapped bags, but I will, since I know it doesn't really have wood finish in it.
