Contrary to the English sound of the name, this tea has nothing whatsoever to do with the aroma or taste of glue, and that's a good thing! Glühfix is a herb-and-spice mix that comes in ordinary, string-and-tag teabags, but can serve two purposes: to steep and drink as with any other herbal, or as advertised on Teekanne's German-language website, use for mulling of red wine (by inserting teabag into the heated wine). As I don't drink alcoholic beverages, it's "just" an herbal tea for me, and turns out, quite unexpectedly delicious. I dare rate this the best among the Teekanne herbals I've tried so far, as a straight tea!
The packaging and dry aroma suggest a mild, sweet, citrus-dominant taste, but the in-cup flavor and aroma, as well as the (quite pleasant) wet-bag scent, offer a much more complex and rich story. The lemony orange flavor still is there, but interweaves with the other stated ingredients (cinnamon and cloves), all supplementing a decidedly creamy, vanilla-like base flavor that gives the blend a remarkably smooth, sweet, almost buttery or savory character, but with a sprinkling of mild spice to boot.
Glühfix floats rather dreamily in an otherwise unexplored netherworld between fruit tea and vanilla-heavy chai, but with a slightly buttery smoothness found more in high-quality chamomile blends. This yields a unique flavor profile that would be supremely delicious if it were stronger, so I'll probably do some doubling up with the rest of the bags in the box for optimal potency.
Prices for this seem to vary greatly, as of this writing. [I got it in a relatively new, unopened box at an estate sale, super cheap.] It is found on Teekanne's German-language site for 1.59 Euros per 10-ct box, and in 20-ct boxes on Amazon and Wal-Mart sites for (as of this writing) a high price of more than 50¢/bag ($11 for 20). "The Taste of Germany" is charging less than half that, however, at $4.75 for a 20-ct box. So shop around!
