↑About Caykur (Çaykur)
Çaykur is a tea company fully owned by the government of Turkey. Caykur was founded in 1983 by the passage of Law. No. 2929, which was later amended by Decree No. 233. The Turkish state had previously controlled the tea industry, and this law simply resulted in restructuring and the creation of the present form of the company.
Caykur mostly sells black tea of a variety of grades, Earl grey black tea, and more recently has begun selling green tea, and white tea in limited batches. Their teas are widely available in Turkey. Outside of Turkey they are available in Turkish specialty and import stores and sometimes other Meditteranean and Middle eastern import stores.

I've tasted other Turkish teas, but this one stays my favorite.
I recently sampled this, mentally comparing it with the Filiz Cayi from Caykur. I thought this tea was delightful, I think a much better tea than the Filiz Cayi, which was pleasant, light and smooth, but without much depth.

This is a typical Turkish everyday tea. The tea itself is grown in Rize, in the Karadeniz (English: black sea) region of northern Turkey. The climate in this region is mild and wet and as a result this region produces pleasingly delicate tea which is lightly floral, toasty and low in tannins. The light, low tannin natu...
