Chai Bora is a brand of Tanzanian tea sold by Chai Bora Limited. The name Chai Bora is Swahili for the best tea. The company is located in Mafinga, Iringa, and is among the largest tea packing firms in east and central Africa.[1] In 2010, Chai Bora became the first Tanzanian company to receive ISO 22000 certification for its food quality assurance.[2] Chai Bora also owns the brand African Infusion.
In 2008, Chai Bora Ltd was owned by Tanzania Tea Packers Ltd, also known as Tatepa, a company that also owned Wakulima Tea Company Ltd, and Kibena Tea Ltd., two tea-producing companies.[1] As of November 2010, the company is owned by TransCentury, a company based in Kenya that holds a portfolio of many African firms.[3]
Chai Bora sells several different grades of tea, and sells both loose-leaf and tea bags. The company also sells the African Infusions line of herbal teas.
