Closeup of Leaf of Monkey Picked Oolong Tea from Teavana

Closeup of tightly rolled oolong leaves with lumpy, irregular shapes and grayish yellow-green colorView Full Resolution

This photo shows a closeup of the leaf of Teavana's Monkey PIcked Oolong tea, a Tie Guan Yin (Iron Goddess of Mercy) oolong tea that had been one of Teavana's most expensive offerings.

Like most Anxi oolongs, this tea is tightly rolled into round pellets, which unfurl upon steeping. The greenish, but not bright green, color of the leaves reflects a low level of oxidation and roast, but slightly more than that of the modern green styles of Tie Guan Yin, which show a vibrant emerald-green color.
