Golden Dian Hong, Loose-leaf Yunnan Black Tea, 2007 Spring Harvest

Loose-leaf tea with pale orange, yellow, and grayish leaves, long, wiry, covered in fine white hairsView Full Resolution

This photo shows an exceptionally pale dian hong (Yunnan red) tea, a loose-leaf black tea from Yunnan province. This could be classified as a Yunnan Gold tea. These tippy Yunnan teas are lighter in color and lower in tannins. They have a mild flavor but high caffeine content, and tend to be quite expensive.
