Brownish leaves with some silvery and green mixed in. Light aroma of fall leaves and honey with some vegetal tones. Some astringency and a noticeably unpleasant sourness, although no bitterness.
Of Upton's 3 Shou Mei teas of similar price (see ZW62, ZW23), this is the one I like least. This one is much more similar to ZW23 although in a sense it is intermediate between the two. Fresher tasting than ZW62; much weaker aroma and much more sour as compared than ZW23.
These are subtle differences but the sourness makes this my least favorite of Upton's Shou Mei teas. ZW23 is very similar to this tea but I prefer it in every way except that it is slightly more astringent.
