Although I don't typically drink my tea with milk or sweetener, Scottish Breakfast Teas are blended with this in mind so I tried mine both plain and with the milk and sweetener. When drinking plain, the tea is so robust, dark and malty that the flavors were completely overpowering, but with a touch of milk and agave the flavors smooth out nicely and really make a nice cup of tea.
I have never had a Scottish breakfast blend with African teas in the mix, and have to say the Assam is definitely in the fore front. There is a bit of brightness and astringency, good balance, and it definitely packs a punch of caffeine.
