Dry leaf has an intoxicating rum-like or almost whiskey-like (bourbon) aroma that I find very pleasant. More similar to the Vanilla tea sold by Arbor Teas than to any other Coconut-flavored tea I've encountered before. Lighter overall than that tea, and less cocoa-ey.
Very pleasing to drink. Brews a robust, rich brown cup full of flavor. Light-brown color, light for a black tea.
Coconut aroma is rich and deep, not evocative of a tropical vacation as much as curling up by a fire and sipping a warm glass of coconut rum or even bourbon whiskey. Smells a lot like fresh coconut flesh, from a whole coconut: rich and deep, quite unlike the fleeting, transient coconut flavoring I usually encounter in anything other than whole coconut.
Base tea is smooth but very full-bodied. Clean flavor. Warming yet refreshing. The base tea seems very well-matched to the flavoring.
I tend to avoid and dislike flavored teas but I was solidly impressed by this. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes coconut (or rum and bourbon--the liquor-like qualities of this tea are uncanny) and wants a high-quality flavored tea.
