In my latest black tea frenzy, I decided to give this one a try since it seems pretty unique.
It is apparently a black (more fully oxidized) version of the Water Fairy oolong, which interested me.
I've seen that various companies offer black tea versions of oolongs such as Tie Guan Yin and even Alishan tea.
I've also seen these teas referred to as "experimental" which only adds to the intrigue :)

The very dark, dry leaf smells wonderfully sweet and almost floral.
For brewing I use 5 grams of this tea in a 100-120ml gaiwan.
I've found that I can re-steep this tea up to 7 times, so it's pretty durable for a black tea. Very durable, actually.

Mmm the aroma of the steeped leaf is very pleasing. I get notes of lavender as well as a certain undefined sweetness in the aroma.

As for the flavor, I've never tasted anything quite like it in a black tea before. Almost hybrid oolong-black. Very cool :)
The backbone is an almost sugarcane sweet flavor, with various floral notes that come and go in the early infusions.
Once again lavender comes to mind...a bit of an herbal floweriness.
And the very sweet main body makes the tea so very smooth in the mouth.
I wouldn't say the sweet flavor is honey-like...but I imagine other people might.

Infusions 5,6,7 lose some of the lavender notes, allowing for the ultra smooth and sweet flavor to dominate.
Very rich flavor that lingers for a long time. Zero astringency, and close to zero bitterness.
I imagine I could push the leaf to water ratio further without any problem...but I want this tea to last until I can order it again :)
