Less than $6 for 2 ounces?...I couldn't resist :)
The tiny curly leaves smell of earth and perhaps a cinnamon sweetness.
I brewed this "semi-western" style (I normally use gong fu style). Using 4 grams of leaf in a 10 ounce teapot.
With this particular setup, my goal is to get two infusions (about 20oz of tea in total) so the steep times are somewhat short.
The first steep was 1 min. Infuser basket is then removed, and the pot of tea carried over to my drinking area (ie coffee table by the couch haha), and repeatedly poured into a little 3oz cup until the pot is empty. So I still get the "feel" of a tea session, though slower paced (and less work) than my gong fu sessions.
Second steep timing depends on the tea and I go anywhere from 1:30-2:00 min.
For this one I did 1:30.
Infusion aroma is a bit smoky and earthy.
The color is deep dark red.
The flavors though, are where I find this tea to shine. Starts with some earthiness, and then a beautiful floral finish...almost rose-like. In between there are hints of smoke as well as dried fruit. Very little sweetness.
Second infusion mirrors the first, with just a bit more earthiness though the rosy floral flavor is still there. I love floral notes in my black teas.
Overall this is a great everyday type of black tea.
As well as a steal for the price, and a nice Keemun indeed.
