I drank this tea in the Unami Maison de Thé in Lille. It was served prepared in a small teapot. This means it was made exactly as it should, though I didn't get to see any leaves.
This was my first time trying a Tie Guan Yin, so I chose the one that best fit my budget.
The liqueur is yellow. It has a nutty and woody, slightly bitter aroma. The flavour is also nutty and woody with a hint of green tea grassiness. It has a little astringency in a way I find a bit unpleasant. It feels thick and soft and leaves a fresh aftertaste.
I'm not sure if this is all I expected from Tie Guan Yin.
