Based on my experiences with black gunpowder, I was not surprised that this doesn't taste like Mao Feng at all. It's more like other Chinese black teas I've had. It's got just a tiny little bit of sweetness but it's hardly there. It's pleasantly almost-bitter (but I did make it pretty strong).
Resteeps quite decently.
It's a nice tea but nothing exciting.

Yeah...the relationship between mao feng green tea and Keemun mao feng is mainly just one of visual aesthetics of the leaf-shape...there is not really any resemblance of flavor, aroma, or other qualities that I know of!
That said, if you didn't find this tea super exciting, I wouldn't give up on Keemun Mao Fengs yet...the two examples of it that I've tried have all been quite outstanding among Keemuns...maybe this just wasn't the best batch.
