Having never had Irish Breakfast tea before I was a bit taken aback when I opened the container to not find tea leaves, but little pellets like the low cost tea my brother buys! Having imported it all the way here I was really disappointed until I brewed some and discovered it makes the best milk tea ever.
This is now one of my favorite teas for it’s rich thick flavor that can even stand up to a good dose of milk and sugar.

The only very, very strong teas with wonderful flavor and amazing vigorous morning affects are 'Kaiser' from Mariage Freres and Fortnum and Mason's 'Irish Breakfast'. I lived in Paris so I'd take Tea in the Mariage Freres in the Marais. It is a 'Perfect Thé - le matin' with a slight malty and delightful Assam, Kenyan and Russian 'Aracena' . After you finish your pot, the reaction tends to be.. 'boy am I awake and ready to go,go,go!
But my favorite is Fortnum and Mason's Irish Breakfast',
the strongest tea among the selections. This tea paired with clotted cream with scones and a yogurt parfait, is my idea of a perfect breakfast. Attention.! Use sachets and make haste of the time as Irish can turn bitter quite quickly. You are ready for a pleasant morning until you are ready for your 'Afternoon Tea' with luncheon. Love the ritual of making perfect tea in the morning and anytime of the day.

I will have to try ‘Kaiser’ if I ever get a chance. You’re making me crave scones and clotted cream. It’s been over a year since I had some!
I make my tea in the evening mostly since I work slightly late at night and get home wanting something to relax with.

Argentine! If you like to drink tea in the evening to relax you, I suggest you try Mariage & Frere's 'Grand Caravan'. It is a 'thé noir' (for the evening) and the lovely, light aroma with very little caffeine is a light mix of complex woody and vanilla flavor. 'Russian Caravan' from F&M is one of my all time favorite late afternoon teas. I worked at 'All My Children' as a Casting Director and the 'Russian Caravan' was perfect. A light, fragrant taste of birchwood, light sweet spice. Black tea at its finest. It gave/gives me a short time of relaxing vigor if that is possible...and then total relaxation. I have been drinking it since 1999 at about 4-5PM .I fear if you have 'Kaiser ' or 'Irish', you will be doing pushups at 2AM and cursing me! They are only for the morning until about 1:00 - 2:00. Scones? We hage the best little shop but then,,,,,I don't buy anything these days except essentials at the supermarket. :)

Haha! Don’t worry about my caffeine intake, it has never affected me a single bit. I can probably drink three cups of ‘Irish’ an hour before bed and still sleep like a baby. But I will most definitely try ‘Grand Caravan’ in the future. All of those sound so amazing, sadly, I live in the US so it will be awhile before I can afford to order Mariage & Frere’s due to the shipping costs. Are there any other tea brands or specific types you would recommend? I love teas with floral flavors a lot too.
Before the shutdown there was only one place close enough to visit that made traditional scones and it was still an hour away. After this who knows.
