NOTE: This tea has changed ingredients (and not for the better) since last update on RateTea in 2017. It used to be, "China Gunpowder green tea blended with refreshing Moroccan peppermint," per website of that era. Now it is, "Chinese green tea blended with sweet, bright spearmint," based on the labeling of packaging for the individual sachets.

Realizing that balancing a flavoring like mint with green tea is likely a delicately performed blending art, I still had some trouble getting into this blend. Peppermint (when it doesn't drown out the tea) or lemon mint seem to go better with green tea in my experience, while spearmint (the most common choice for this type of blend) is both weak and yielding a disjointed flavor profile with respect to the tea itself.

Mighty Leaf seems to use a good quality Chinese green tea here, though a more herbaceous or grassy Japanese green tea probably would work better with spearmint. Conversely, this tea, which is more of a straight green without other elements I can detect, ought mate with a level of peppermint just a notch below that needed to cancel out the tea flavor. Maybe that was the case with the original blend, but if so, why change it to this? Instead, as it stands, it's just a weak blend all around—not bad, not offputting, just...lame. This applies to the dry-bag and in-cup aromas (mostly mild spearmint, almost no tea), in-cup flavor (tea comes out but spearmint is weak), and even a feeble wet-bag aroma on both fronts.

Quantity is not the issue. The sachet has enough dry material in it to expand full when wet. It should be more potent than this, even after a 10-minute steeping session. I suppose it's more appealing to those who want "delicate" flavors, and the overall taste is pleasant (but very mild). So I won't ding it too much on flavor—just aroma and value, the cost being way too expensive for something this meek.
