GoodFairNot Worth Paying For

Two things may factor into this rating, for full disclosure:
1. Not being a drinker of alcoholic beverages, I didn't know what "amaretto" was supposed to taste like, so I can't say how faithfully the tea replicates the flavor of the liqueur.
2. The tea comes from a light-colored, wooden gift box that's co-branded with Metropolitan Tea, which I received as a gift. Links for such boxes exist on Mlesna's site, but don't work. Links for similar boxes also exist on Metropolitan's, but not this specific tea, and those are wholesale. So "value" is based on online (very high, between 50¢ and $1 USD per bag!) prices at outlets such as Wal-Mart, grocery dot com, and Greencastle Coffee Roasters.

All that out of the way, the base Ceylon tea seems to be of good quality. The brew gets nice and dark even with one bag; however, as with their Island Coconut Tea, I used two per cup in the end due to the small bags and lack of tea in each. That further boosts the flavor, but also hits the "value" hard. I'm not a huge fan of almonds, which online searches revealed to be the basis for amaretto, so I can't claim this smells or tastes wonderful either. It's just "tolerable."

Somebody who does like almonds (and maybe the liqueur?) probably would rate the taste and aroma higher...but rating the value higher is a tough proposition when boxes of 25 bags retail for $14–21 each! As it was a thoughtful gift (giving tea to a frequent tea drinker seldom is a bad thing), I'll finish the box, but absolutely won't be buying any of this.
