I thought this was a very balanced, complex rendition of an orange spice tea. The orange flavor is subdued, always noticeable but never overwhelming; there are a lot of spices and overall, the character of this blend is more like a masala chai or spiced tea than a typical "orange spice" tea.
None of the spices are dominant, although I notice the clove most initially, and the cinnamon mostly in the finish; that's how I like it, although I could put more cardamom in this blend.
The base tea is surprisingly mild, especially given that I find Octavia's teas tend to be above average strength. I steeped this tea for just under 3 minutes. Although it produced a rich-colored cup, the body is relatively light and the flavor is quite mild. If this tea gets too strong, I think it would be due to the spice, rather than the base tea. This tea has a very dry finish, which I attribute to the cinnamon.
Very enjoyable. Pricey, like all of Octavia's offerings, but I will say, this is easily the highest-quality orange spice blend I have ever tried.
Served in Velvet Sky bakery in Jenkintown.
