Commercial Description
Twinings has been blending my family tea for years. Today, I am proud to continue this tradition with the tea celebrated throughout the world known as Twinings Earl Grey. Legend has it, that my ancestor, the second Earl Grey, was presented with this exquisite recipe by an envoy on his return from China.

Twinings is a good tea but I've found what I consider comparable quality teas to be less expensive. For example, the "Publix Premium" brand Earl Grey, produced by a grocery chain here in the U.S., costs 30-40% less while being of about comparable quality to Twinings, in my opinion.
As others have said, Twinings is light on bergamot. When I've used Twinings, I've often added lemon juice after the fact to give it more citrus.

It's pretty good tea overall. This is one of the only brands of loose leaf tea available in my area, so I drink this stuff up often. It is, however, kind of dry in comparison to some other brands of Earl Grey I've tried. The Bergamot oil is pretty light in this brand.
Overall, it's worth keeping some around.

I've had this both loose and in teabags, and while it's definitely a lot better loose, it still tastes more or less like the same tea. I've always found Twinings' rendition of Earl Grey to be one of the more muted ones...both in the black tea and the bergamot. It has less bite than I'd expect, and is a bit more mellow. I prefer Earl Grey with more bergamot and with more kick overall.
Although I think Twinings tends to do British-style teas fairly well, if I'm going to drink one of their black teas, I'd go with their Ceylon: it's a bit bolder, stronger, and more complex than this one. Among the brands available in most stores, if I want an Earl Grey, I would prefer Numi's Aged Earl Grey...it's pricier than this one, but offers a stronger flavor that I like.
