About Tengchong, Yunnan, China
Téngchōng(腾冲) is a county-level city in Baoshan prefecture of China's Yunnan province.The climate is mostly a subtropical highland climate with strongly seasonal precipitatio following the pattern of the Asian monsoon. About 85% of the precipitation falls from May through October; winters are dry but experience occasional rain. Frost can occur in winter but average temperatures are well above freezing. The region is volcanically active, and earthquakes are frequent. There is also abundant hot springs and widespread use of geothermal energy.
Tengchong does grow tea, but tea constitutes only one of many crops grown here. Other major agriculture in the county includes grain, oil, tobacco, and sugar. Teas from here are occasionally available in the West.
