First impression of this tea is that the aroma is pleasantly full and rich, very nice for a dark wulong. The liquid is dark golden brown, but it is not thick, opaque, or hazy, as some wulong teas from a tea bag can be. The taste of this tea is characteristic of a dark Tieguanyin, with a bit of a bitter aftertaste which is not bad. For those looking for abundant complexity or sweetness, this may not be the best choice. However, this tea is really quite nice, and impressive given the humble price and packaging. There may be better inexpensive dark wulongs from a tea bag, but this Ten Ren Tieguanyin is a nice find.
Ten Ren's Tieguanyin bags seem to have more consistent quality than Foojoy's China Classic Oolong bags. I believe this is due to their packaging, since Ten Ren puts each bag in its own plastic envelope.
