Dry leaf is beautiful, but not very aromatic. Looks like a bai mu dan (white peony) by leaf shape and size, but a shou mei by the darker leaf color.
Upon brewing, there's a fleeting suggestion of lemon in the aroma, but when I drink it, the flavor and aroma are subdued. Aroma is mostly of caramel and autumn leaves. A little bit like a Bai Hao oolong but with more interesting vegetal undertones.
Extremely smooth flavor and syrupy mouthfeel: thick but with little astringency or bitterness.
Brewed a second cup that was no less flavorful than the first, but required a long steeping to extract the flavor.
While I would prefer this to Bai Hao oolong, by quite a lot, it struck me as too similar for my liking: too smooth, not enough kick. Priced reasonably for a tea this exotic, especially given that it is both organic and fair trade certified, but I found the flavor boring. It was interesting to try, but I don't think I'd buy it again.
