I very much like this tea, it is one of my favorite "base" or "default" Ceylons that is sold by any major tea company.
Before steeping, the leaf is aromatic and has a pleasant malty aroma, like an Assam but less fruity.
Flavor is crisp. The cup is very aromatic, mostly malty but with light roasty/toasty notes. There is a fairly strong savory or umami flavor, more noticeable than the bitterness which is only subtle and mostly up-front. Finish is clean except that this tea leaves a slightly metallic sensation on the palate, the only downside I found to drinking it.
Resteeps okay, but not quite as well as I'd expect. I prefer going easy on the first steep, 3 minutes or possibly less, if you intend to get a second cup. Once I steeped the first cup for five minutes, wanting a strong cup, and the flavor was pretty spent, leaving a thin second cup.
