Cup at home, made from a mixture of pieces of sweet liquorice root and dried apple, lemongrass and dried peppermint leaves - not a single tea leaf in it. Pours clear darkish straw (against transparent glass) with negligible sediment. Clear aroma of liquorice, with notes of lemongrass and touches of fruit and peppermint. Sweet flavour of liquorice, permeating the entire tasting experience, enhanced by the notes of apple. This is only mildly offset by the herbal notes of lemongrass and a whiff off peppermint. Creamy and rather sticky palate with a strong aftertaste of liquorice, with touches of mint to leave a refreshing note. Well, I actually like this beverage, although I must admit it is an acquired taste for someone who did not grow up with liquorice. The name I find rather misleading, though. The drink ought to be called hot mint. It is heavy and warm. But perhaps that is cool. So is the price (42 DKK per 100 g).
