As much Murchie's tea as I've ordered, chugged and rated, and as strongly as I love peppermint, this was only a matter of time. Usually, I get a quick box of somebody's peppermint tea (usually Celestial Seasonings, which I've rated highly) at a retail store and go with that. However, lately amid price inflation of almost everything, the value basis for Murchie's peppermint has gotten more competitive, given its nearly matching, excellent quality, the long-favorable Canadian dollar exchange rate, and the fact this is available in relative bulk (a 50-bag carton).

I rated this only a minute little tick below CS' version, mainly because it's not quite as "crisp" (sharp). However, the quantity is similar, not at all shortchanged as we sometimes see with other brands' peppermint teabags. The quality of dry-bag, cup and wet-bag (breathe through the damp bag...quite a pleasure) aromas reveals they chose an excellent cultivar of the plant. They also obviously picked a supplier (in the U.S., presumably from somewhere nearby in the Northwest where a lot is grown) who gets the harvest dried and into the clutches of the tea company promptly, when the fullest possible load of oil is still locked in. This mint tea goes in clean and fairly dense, drinks comfortingly while hot, warm or cool, doesn't get weird when oversteeped, isn't loaded with excess stems, and does take sweetening quite well. The 50-bag box is great for those who simply want to grab some yearly peppermint tea and stash it, especially if already ordering other Murchie's teas online.
