By both smell and flavor, I think this tea needs to be coupled with seafood--sushi would work great. The aroma in particular reminds me of Japanese fish cakes. There's also a very light natural creaminess to the texture/mouthfeel. It loses appeal as it cools, so use a very good mug or be prepared to it fairly quickly.
Not bad at all, but definitely a tea that you need to be in the right mood for. Certainly worth trying, though I've only tried a few puerhs, so I'm not sure how typical this one is. I smelled the added spice most before brewing, but I'm not sure how cardamom tastes, so I'm not sure whether I can pick it out as a flavor here.

This was the first Pu-erh style tea I ever tried, and I selected it because I love the seductive, alluring, sweet smell of cardamom spice. Now, I had read about Pu-erhs and how they are strange and "earthy," but I didn't really know what that meant.
The moment I opened the box, the outstandingly powerful aromas immediately saturated the senses, even though the packets were tightly sealed. I readied myself for an amazing cup of tea. However, the flavor was quite unexpected! I cannot say that I liked it very much, and my kids were pretty turned off by the smell, which reminded us of a walk through a barnyard with a sack of eastern spices on your back- so that's what they mean by "earthy!"
I decided to give it another try, this time adding a splash of cream and some raw sugar, and to my surprise this completed it. It now took on a pleasingly sweet, Arabian coffee character, and the "earthy" manure aspect was effectively toned down.
The liquor was quite rich and deep, like coffee. There was no bitterness or astringency. I imagine it would be a nice match with curries, rice dishes, salmon, lamb, or luscious, chocolate desserts. I was also able to get a good second cup, which increases the value.
Pu-erhs have a healthy reputation, and are known in China as "The Skinny Girls' Tea" because they improve metabolism, aid in digestion, help with weight, and give an energy boost without the "jitters."
If you are a fan of cardamom spice, or enjoy traditional Arabic coffees, I recommend trying this one. Bottom line: I definitely plan to enjoy this one again, but it is not for everyone.

The aroma of this teabag is mostly spicy cardamon, there is a slight earthy undertone, but for the most part we have lots of cardamon. Which is good if you are a big fan of cardamon, because it is not a subtle spice.
Tasting this tea reminds me more of a strong Black tea rather than a Pu-erh, it is very bright and a touch astringent. After the initial tea kick the cardamon decides to dance right onto my tongue, this adds an exotic richness and slight sweetness. The aftertaste is just a touch nutty. Adding a bit of cream and sugar to this tea takes away any astringency and makes it similar to a chai (a bit of a one-note chai, but still) with a much earthier flair.
