Tea Plantation in Tzaneen, South Africa
This photo, taken in August, 2003, shows a tea plantation in Tzaneen, Limpopo province, South Africa. This inland province, in the north of the country, is mostly too arid for tea, but some isolated highland areas have higher rainfall and tea can be grown here.
The plants in this photo are young, fairly newly planted. Next to the path are a row of taro or elephant's ear plants. It is not clear whether they are ornamental or a border plant, or are being grown for food.
