Heilongjiang (黑龙江), meaning black dragon river, is the northeasternmost province in China, bordering Russia. Heilongjiang has a cold and harsh subarctic climate, far too cold to grow tea.Heilongjiang does, however, produce some herbs and fruits that are used as ingredients in herbal teas. Even in this role, however, it is not a well-known region.
The majority of the agriculture in this region consists of staple crops such as soybeans, corn, wheat, and potatoes. The area is also important in lumber, horses, and cattle.
