About Udalguri, Assam, India

Udalguri is a district in Assam, on the border with Bhutan, created in 2004 by separating out part of Darrang district. It is the easternmost district of Bodoland, the semi-autonomous region created by the Bodoland Territorial Council and inhabited by the Bodo people. It is bordered to the south by the remainder of Darrang, which now occupies a much smaller space.

Borengajuli, Corramore, Dimakusi, Nonaipara, Orangajuli, and Suola tea estates are located here. Many of the tea gardens are located close to the Bhutan border.

Older writings and maps may refer to the tea gardens located here as belonging to Darrang district.
