Likely, I'll never rate a decaf black tea in the upper 20%, simply because the processes involved usually strip away aroma and flavor and add some sort of unnatural (usually metallic) tinge to the taste. Imagine my surprise, then, when this decaf tasted rather smooth and moderately strong, with only the very faintest and barely detectable rustiness. It also contained a weak but still noticeable fruity element, something like kiwi or starfruit, as well as a hint of damp, fallen autumn leaves. This may be the most complex decaf I've had, and I'm not exactly a connoisseur of nuance in tea chugging.
Compounding that surprise: the fact the teabag was wrapped in a paper overleaf and came from a motel in northeast Arkansas, where who knows how long it had been sitting? The dry-bag and in-cup aromas, truer to decaf experiences I've had, were feeble, almost absent. Nonetheless, for a straight black decaf tea, this product rates among the top few I've had for overall flavor.
