This tea is really quite impressive. Whether dry or brewed, its aroma and its flavor both remind me of smokiness from some sort of aromatic wood used for barbecuing -- though it is not "barbecue" flavored. Perhaps it reminds me of camping mixed with a cigarette smoke that somehow isn't gross?
The smokiness is very pronounced. I'm not always into "smokey" teas, but this one really hits the spot when I am in the mood for that experience. I don't have a lot of experience with lapsong souchongs, but this seems to be a quality version of that tea. It seems to go best with some sort of savory food.
I tried it with honey added later and found it surprisingly delightful. I really didn't think sweetness would blend well with this flavor, but honey worked great.
