The dark chocolaty, floral aroma of the dry leaves is honestly the best thing about this tea. I spent a lot of time trying to get it to taste like it smells. I can get close with a lower temperature and the right brewing time, but it's never exact. Most of the time, the taste is slightly fruity and a little less roasty than the typical Wuyi oolong. There's a strong tobacco aroma that comes out with higher temperatures. I use cooler water because of that. The cooler water makes it sweeter and brings out that chocolate note, but higher temperatures taste more Wuyi-like to me, and I would have liked to have the option.
I do enjoy this tea, even if it's a little more fussy than most oolongs that aren't Dancongs. At $16 for 100g, it's a pretty good value, but Yunnan Sourcing has a couple around that price, and Old Ways Tea isn't much more expensive, so I don't think I'll get Wuyi oolongs from Teavivre in the future.
