This tea needs a really short steep time for me--say, 30 seconds--in order to be pleasing. Otherwise, it quickly becomes bitter. In fact, by the flavor, I would have guessed this was a black tea.
Not too bad if the steeping is kept brief, but there are a lot of teas I've enjoyed more.

This is not the sort of tea I would normally enjoy, but given how much I love Ahmad tea, I was really curious and had to try it, and was surprised that I like it a lot more than similar berry-flavored green teas.
It really does smell like blueberries, which I actually didn't like. I love blueberries but I don't particularly like the blueberry aroma in tea because it tends to come out as a more "cooked blueberry" smell, like jam or muffins, rather than the fresh blueberry flavor that I like. Thankfully though, in this tea, the blueberries tasted fresher and there was less of that "jammy" or cooked fruit smell.
But what I really liked was the base tea...surprisingly good quality for a flavored tea in a tea bag. I don't know what type of tea is used in this tea bag, but it has a brisk, tangy character and a light smokiness, like a mild gunpowder, or a chun mee or young hyson. The aroma and flavor are both surprisingly complex. There's a toastiness, and some herbaceous undertones.
If I ignore the fact that this is a blueberry-flavored tea, I actually think it is pretty good. It makes me want to try a pure green tea from Ahmad...something I have yet to do.
I definitely recommend this one to people who like blueberries but want a strong, robust green tea as the base. Often the green teas used in flavored teas are weak and almost flavorless...that's not the case with this one...I also think the tea was well chosen; the tangy character of the tea seems to blend very well with the fruity aroma.
