|
Commercial Description
This light-bodied black tea comes from the Seethargundu Estate in the Nelliyampathi foothills of the Blue Mountains (Nilgiris) in Kerala, a state in Southern India. Nilgiri produces a mellow liquor with a clean, fruity finish and is ideal for iced tea because of its low astringency and pleasant, non-cloudy appearance.

This is an odd tea. Very mild aroma, extremely mellow woody flavor, but then there's the most wonderfully fruity finish if you brew it just right. I feel like it would be better in a blend than on its own, with something else adding more body and flavor and this tea providing its lingering fruity finish. I did try blending it with an Assam with strong dried fruit notes and liked the results, but I didn't have enough of either tea left to experiment more. It's cheap enough that I might get more just to try to make a good blend with it.
