I get the sense that other people would enjoy this more than I did.
Brews up a mellow cup with a mild chocolate aroma, reminding me a lot of halloween candy as a kid, but less artificial. It's not the richest aroma, but it becomes a little more complex on drinking. I can notice the rooibos, but it's not dominant. The cup smells and tastes a little creamy, even not adding any milk, I think from the vanilla. The vanilla blends well with the chocolate and rooibos.
The flavor is mellow, even when steeped for a long time (Numi recommends 8 minutes and I did that).
Oddly forgettable though. I'm a chocolate enthusiast, and I regularly eat 70-85% cocoa content stuff, and I love teas that have more of the "bitter chocolate" notes....this was just too soft and mellow for me, it reminded me of the sorts of candies I didn't eat because they are too sweet. And I don't think it paired very well with chocolate or with rich desserty foods either...too soft to balance or cut the sweetness or fats. This might be more enjoyable for someone who wants a naturally sweeter tea though to substitute for actually eating sweets or desserts.
Also, pricey...a box of 12 tea bags for $8? No thank you...especially considering how much top-notch loose-leaf tea I can get for that price.
