Kericho is a district (county-level unit) in southwestern Kenya, located at the western edge of the Rift Valley Province, and bordering Nyanza Province. Unlike most of Kenya, which is semiarid, Kericho, being at a high altitude, has extremely high rainfall and usually daily rainfall. These climate conditions, and the high altitude, makes it ideal for growing the tea plant. The region is naturally covered with evergreen forests, leading this region to be described as the evergreen Kericho Highlands.

This region is home to a large portion of Kenya's tea industry. In addition to small companies such as Chim Chim Tea, large corporations including Unilever also have tea operations based in this area.
