Commercial Description
...sweet and very "nosy": savory roasted apples, palm sugar, walnut, cocoa, rye and spice notes that linger as you sip. Rich, coating texture and very smooth, soft mouthfeel are both signs of a quality Jin Hou. This is a very complex black tea and can be enjoyed in multiple infusions...

An excellent tea, with good balance between the flavors and aromas. A bit on the pricey side.

High quality tea but quite expensive. Can easily get two infusions of great tasting tea. Recommend adding teaspoon of Tupelo honey. My favorite of all teas.

I should preface this by saying that I do not particularly enjoy black tea in general. Usually I drink white and green tea. That being said, I do enjoy this once in a while. The aroma is mild and somewhat nutty. The flavor is full and very smooth with almost no astringency. There are also undertones of nuts (perhaps hazelnuts) and chocolate. I enjoy the different flavors of the tea and do enjoy it if I am going to drink black tea.

Okay, so here's the thing with this tea: I bet it's a great example of the kind of tea that it is. It has the bitterness of black tea, but in a way that feels more blended/smooth than most and gives it body. The primary other flavor I seem to identify in this robust tea is a raisin-like aroma and taste, and it has a rather "juicy" mouthfeel.
I also think it tastes like a higher quality version of a tea like Lipton's (emphasis on the higher quality) brewed very strong. Though that's going based on memory from awhile ago.
In the end, I'd call this a great tea that isn't suited to my palate, but that I could imagine black tea fans enjoying a lot.

This is one of my overall favorite teas. Beautiful color, although it does usually tend to get a little frothy around the edges as its brewing for some reason (have not seen this happen with any other teas.) Its a milder black tea that's great any time of day. Its a little on the expensive side but worth it in my opinion.
