I found a Middle Eastern store that carries a large number of Ahmad's teas and decided to try some of their herbal teas as well. As a brand, Ahmad has shown itself to produce high quality and flavorful products and this tea is no exception. Other than whatever "natural flavor" is included (I'm guessing primarily lemon oil), this tea is a blend of peppermint and spearmint with a little lemon peel.
This blend manages to taste refreshingly minty without tasting like candy. I generally prefer pure spearmint to peppermint or blends, but this one manages to be more than the sum of its parts. The spearmint and peppermint are both identifiable, but the result perfectly balances spearmint's freshness with the cooling tingle of peppermint. The lemon adds fruitiness without the result tasting sweet. My only complaint is that the flavor has slightly more of a weedy or skunky catnip taste than I prefer, but even so, this is my new favorite mint tea.
I pay $3.49 for twenty tea bags and Ahmad's website sells the same box for a dollar more. That's a bit more expensive than Bigelow's peppermint or Mint Medley, but cheaper than Traditional Medicinal's spearmint, which was my previous favorite.
