Chinese Jasmine - Organic
|
Commercial Description
Jasmine Green tea is one of China’s most popular flower-scented tea. It begins with spring picked jasmine flowers which are then artisanal mixed with green tea leaves. The mix is allowed to sit until the green tea leaves absorb the sweet floral jasmine fragrance. Our organic jasmine whole leaf sachets is perfect after a meal or as an uplifting beverage during the day.

Outstanding. This was one of the most interesting Jasmine teas I've ever tried. I normally don't think of jasmine as being complex, but this one was multifaceted and I kept finding different qualities in it each time I sipped it.
The tea bag and dry leaf smell almost minty, light, fresh, and cooling.
Upon brewing, this cooling quality comes out: the cup has the usual jasmine aroma, slightly perfumey, and with slight minty tones. The base tea though has a very bold presence in the aroma. I think the base tea comes through more in this tea than in any other jasmine-scented tea I've tried.
The base tea is herbaceous and slightly bitter, smelling of leaves and vegetables, but there's also a very pleasant toastiness to it, especially in the finish.
Quite singular.
Strong flavor. Bare Tea recommends a 2 minute steeping, and I agree, I could maybe do an extra minute but otherwise I think it would be too strong. A great thing though is that this tea resteeps very well when the first infusion is brief. It's cold now, so I haven't tried brewing this as an iced tea, but I can also see it making a very good iced tea.
This tea has my top recommendation.
