Fennel is an herb that tastes loosely similar to star anise, but not as strong; it reminds me of a blend of star anise and linden flowers. Therefore, folks who like the licorice flavor but not as intense (and with a slight floral veneer) will enjoy this product. While I'm not madly over heels in love with the flavor, it's smooth and tolerable, and a nice tea by which to relax for a spell.
One can obtain it in Austria and Germany (as I did), or in some German food markets stateside, such as German Deli in the DFW Metroplex.
